Founded in 2009 by Alexandre Koiransky, FAIR (by Ethical Wine & Spirits) became the world’s first line of socially responsible spirits. Koiransky sought to create a new spirits category by producing all of their spirits under the fairtrade certification. Their aim is to ensure that the partners they work with are ethically treated by placing rigorous standards on farming practices to ensure the ingredients are of exceptional quality and the wellbeing of farmers is prioritized. These ethical, organic, non-GMO and vegan ingredients are masterfully distilled by their distilling partners in the Cognac region of France to produce vodkas, rums, gins and liqueurs. Today, FAIR spirits are sold internationally throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.

FAIR partners with farming communities in countries such as Bolivia, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Belize, India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, etc. to grow organic, gluten-free, vegan and non-GMO crops that are used in their fairtrade spirits. They source organic quinoa for their vodka from Bolivia’s Altiplano Plateau, juniper berries for their gins from Uzbekistan, Arabica from Mexico and sugarcane grown in Belizean. With these meticulously sourced ingredients, they produce exceptional spirits expertly distilled and bottled by their master distillers in Cognac, France.

Prior to starting FAIR, Alexander Koiransky worked for Ferrand Cognac as a sales representative in the American market. During his time there, he began to imagine what the industry would look like with a more human focus, and thus came Koiransky’s vision for FAIR: to put people at the heart of his business. In 2009, he brought this vision to life by opting to support farming communities from Uzbekistan to Belize by paying fair wages and sourcing sustainable ingredients. Today, his business is structured like a startup, with eight employees working together to continually develop the brand and expand further into international markets.
