Domaine de Cébène is the brainchild of Brigitte Chevalier, a self made woman who began as a professional wine expert in Bordeaux, that wanted to create an identity of her own with her own vineyards and wines. This fierce passion and philosophy brought her to the region of Faugères in the French Languedoc. A terrific, terroir conscious wine maker, she purchased parcels of land based on the quality of the terroir that would be suitable for the grape varieties to flourish. The vineyards have excellent sun exposure and are at high altitude in the foothills of the Massif Central. 

It was her idea to create wines with a “northern” style but made in South France. A style of elegance, variety personality, balance and terroir driven. Another important aspect of the Domaine is the dedication to organic farming and wines of great minerality, imparted from the deep rooted vines in the schist soils of Faugeres. Brigitte’s unique style has made her one of the leading wine producers in the Languedoc region.

The Winery

Situated in Faugeres, Languedoc

This exceptional boutique winery consists of 11 hectares of vineyards in the region of Faugères, France. The vineyard management and farming are organically certified. The vineyards are situated at 300m above sea level, with schist soils, which are very important for the region. The vines are deep rooted and some are very old, vine yields are kept low for higher concentration and complexity, harvest is all done by hand to ensure optimal ripeness of the fruit and careful vinification is vital for maintaining the intensity and personality of the varieties.

Domaine de Cébène specializes in producing organic red wines, often blended, that are different from one another while maintaining the unique style of the terroir - elegance, complexity, freshness and persistence. 

In order to preserve the fragile land, Domaine de Cébène has an “Adopt A Vine” program in which wine-lovers are invited to sponsor some of their most ancient vines to contribute to preserving Languedoc’s viticultural heritage.

The Domaine de Cébène is owned, operated and managed by Brigitte Chevalier. She gained all her professional wine experience in Bordeaux but had a dream to start a winery and create her own styled wines. This dream came true in 2007 when she purchased parcels of land in Faugères, France. Today she continues to run this small, boutique winery and has imprinted her personality on the wines she produces. Recognized as a “Terroiriste”, which states her terrific knowledge of the Faugères schist soil and how this influences grape quality and personality.
