Celler de Capçanes
↓
The Capçanes village has been rooted to wine production since the 13th century. Celler de Capçanes began as a village cooperative in 1933 when 5 families decided to pool their resources and create a cooperative winery. Over the course of nearly a century, the cooperative has grown to 80 families. In the early years, the families sold their wine in bulk but soon they realized the quality of their wines and made the decision to bottle the wine under their own label.
Their big break came when the Jewish community of Barcelona praised their wines and asked them to produce Kosher wines for them. The winery was upgraded and new equipment was added to comply with the regulations of Kosher Mevushal method. This new venture turned out to be a big success and their wines were highly praised by the Jewish community and the world, in general, for their fruit driven style. Their Kosher Flor de Primavera wine is recognized among the very best Kosher wines in the world. Today the cooperative is regarded as a leading wine producer of the DO Montsant region of Spain.

The vines on the Capcanes property, predominantly Garnacha Negra and Cariñena, grow along steep slopes and terraces of the village of Capçanes, protected by the mountain range of Llaberia. Some of these vines are up to 110 years old, of which a portion is used in their Mas Donis Old Vines.
The personality and character of the wines is identified by the diverse terroir of their vineyards. The land is made up of mineral stony slate, limestone and clay soils which impart to the wines a highly concentrated fruit intensity, exquisite flavour profile, complexity, minerality and depth.
A section of the winery is reserved for Kosher wines and is under lock and key, to be opened only by a Rabbi and all production and handling is done only by Jews under Jewish Law and supervised by a Rabbi.
