The Sorricchio family has owned the baronial fiefdom of Valforte since the 14th century, a property of some 500ha in the Abruzzo region of central-eastern Italy. This beautiful estate has been in the family for 9 consecutive generations. It is situated between the Adriatic sea and the Gran Sasso mountain range. 

In 2005, brothers Guido and Francesco Sorricchio established the Barone di Valforte brand for the production of wine. Their love for the land and passion for the vines has always been an integral part of the Sorricchio family heritage and is prevalent today. The winery focus is on the production of native grapes such as Montepulciano, Pecorino, Passerina, etc. The winery has invested in high technology, including a new generation photovoltaic system, to ensure the optimum care is taken in maintaining the vineyards. Special attention and care are given to sustainable vineyard management, always respecting tradition and the environment.

The Barone di Valforte estate is a state of the art facility with ultra-modern machinery to minimize chemical intervention in vineyard management and cellar maintenance. They currently have 46ha of vineyards on their land in the Teramo hills, situated close to the Adriatic Sea. 

Centuries-old traditions and passion, along with great geographical vineyard placement, contribute to high-quality production. Modern, state of the art technology in winemaking and detailed analysis all contribute to high quality. To age the wines, French oak barriques and tonneau are stored in cellars, which date back to the end of the 18th century. It is the attention to detail that contributes to Valforte’s exceptional wines.
