This Chateauneuf du Pape and its label are a tribute to Pierre, the grandfather of the estate's owner, who had piercing blue eyes. The wine is expressive, opening with a dense bouquet of black fruits, wild berries, savoury herbs and spices. The palate is fresh and velvety with berry fruit and black pepper spice encompassing the finely grained tannins masked by the powerful, fresh delivery. Best enjoyed with BBQ beef ribs, grilled lamb chops, veal osso buco and medium cheeses.
